Siemens pitches for Mox

AIKEN - Siemens Power Corp. made its pitch Wednesday for a project at the Savannah River Site that would turn plutonium - one of the most dangerous man-made materials - into a less hazardous fuel for civilian nuclear power. The multinational energy firm is one of several companies competing for a facility that would convert plutonium into Mox - mixed oxide fuel. The project would add an estimated 400 to 500 jobs to the area.
