A name out of the distant past is back playing tournament golf.
PGA Tour caddie Don Cooper of North Augusta expected his boss, Lucas Glover, to make the Masters Tournament one day. Just not this soon.
Only local golfers with long memories remember the Stroh's Classic tournament. The tournament lasted all of one year, in 1980, and was played at the Forest Hills Golf Club. For the record, Phillip Green defeated Gregg Hemann 1-up in the finals. This comes up because the Stroh's event was the last true match play tournament held in the area. Some other now-defunct tournaments, such as the Old Milwaukee Open and Augusta Herald, had match play in the lower flights, but used stroke play for the championship flight.
