Tree pays tribute to attack victims, public servants

AIKEN - Members of the CSRA/S.C. Master Gardeners Association and Clemson Extension Service and officials from the City of Aiken have planted a living memorial marking December as South Carolina Trees of Strength month. The Monterey oak was planted on Pearl Harbor Day at the corner of Edgefield and Pendleton streets in memory of the 60th anniversary of the Pearl Harbor attack, those who lost their lives in the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks and emergency, fire, police and military personnel who put their lives on the line to protect others.
