Supports suspended teacher in slapping

The report on an elementary school teacher suspended for slapping a student in her classroom made me wonder if I've finally lost touch with reality. It was the district superintendent, who said, "It's a very unfortunate incident. She's a very good teacher. She just used bad judgment. There is no excuse, no reason to strike a child in any way, shape or form." According to the article, the teacher "apparently asked the child several times to behave before slapping him."
