The Arts & Heritage Center of North Augusta and the Sertoma Club of North Augusta will hold the 2nd annual Casino Night 2012 fundraiser from 7-10 p.m. Feb. 24 at Julian Smith Casino.

The Sertoma Club of North Augusta meets the first and third Thursday of the month at the North Augusta Country Club between 7 and 9 p.m. The club is on Gregory Lake Road in North Augusta.

The Feb. 11 Carolina Chronicle's In Our Community caption should have identified North Augusta Department of Public Safety Chief Lee Wetherington as the president-elect of the Sertoma Club of North Augusta. Dennis Murphy is the president. The Chronicle regrets the error.

A stable owner, an educator, a pharmacist and a car dealer will be honored Thursday at the CSRA Business Hall of Fame dinner awards ceremony.

Keeper Hill scooted through an opening on the turn to get a clear shot at the leader, then wore down Banshee Breeze in the final yards to capture the $605,500 Kentucky Oaks on Friday. David Flores whacked Keeper Hill more than 20 times left-handed during the stretch run. Owned by John A. Chandler and trained by Robert Frankel, Keeper Hill returned $8.60, $4.80 and $4 as the lukewarm favorite in the field of 13 3-year-old fillies. It was the largest field since 16 entered the 1959 Oaks and the race was split into two divisions.

At first glance, Parks Pharmacy in North Augusta seems like any other drugstore. Telephones are ringing, and pharmacists and technicians are bustling behind the counter to fill prescriptions. But owner and pharmacist Steve McElmurray has worked to foster a family atmosphere.

- The fifth annual North Augusta Classic Golf Tournament to benefit community improvement initiatives has been scheduled for Oct. 16 at The River Club Golf Course.
