ATLANTA --- It was a year of tough cuts at the Capitol this year. So some lawmakers blew off steam with Wrestlemania earlier this month, courtesy of a couple well-connected lobbyists.

ATLANTA - Lobbyists spent about three-quarters of a million dollars courting Georgia lawmakers during the General Assembly session, preliminary reports show.
Local dam needs traffic

New Savannah Bluff Lock and Dam, which needs $6.8 million in repairs, also needs some boat traffic this summer. The aging dam -- gateway to the most beautiful stretch of the lower Savannah River -- is passing only two or three boats per month, according to Carl Nechtman, chairman of the Augusta Ports Authority. "I'd like to see it at least used 20 or 30 times a month," he said. "That would achieve a lot of interest in our river."
Electrolux relocation drawing closer

The final steps are drawing closer in the Electrolux headquarters relocation to Charlotte.The Swedish-based appliance manufacturer said in November that it was consolidating seven of its offices into one location. One of those offices in motion is the 315-person major appliances North America headquarters in Martinez.The Georgia Department of Labor put a layoff notice on its Web site.
