BLYTHE, Ga. - Mr. James Elbert ÒSonnyÓ Allen Jr., 59, of Blythe, Ga. died on Thursday, April 5, 2001. He is survived by his wife, Johnnie Cochran Allen; his three sons, James E. ÒTreyÓ Allen III of Augusta, James ÒJimmieÓ Norfolk and Jon Michael Norfolk, both of Blythe, Ga.; his father James E. ÒRedÓ Allen, Sr. of Augusta; one sister, Mrs. Terry ÒKayÓ Roberts of Hephzibah, Ga.; eight grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Allen was a graduate of A.R.C. and a 1966 graduate of the University of Georgia.

Granville L. Miller (AUGUSTA, Ga.)

AUGUSTA, Ga. - Mr. Granville L. Miller, of Kentwood Drive in Augusta, entered into rest on Saturday, May 12, 2007 at his home. He was 63 years old. Mr. Miller was a native of West Virginia, son of the late John and Kessie Miller. He is the husband of the late Sandra Miller who passed away August 11, 2002. Mr. Miller was a resident of Augusta for over thirty years. He was retired after twenty years from the South Carolina Department of Corrections as Food Service Director. After his retirement, he was employed with Advance Auto Parts. Mr. Miller was a member of Waynesboro Church of God. He was a retired Master Sergeant from the U.S. Army after twenty years of service; he served two tours in Vietnam, and also served in Germany, Korea, and Japan. His last duty station was at Ft. Gordon, Ga. and he remained in Augusta after being stationed here. Mr. Miller never met a stranger. He was energetic, loved to talk to people, loved fishing, travel, especially a good road trip, country, gospel and bluegrass music. He was on the pool league at Ms. Carolines and was an avid bowler with many friends at the AMF Masters Lanes. Family members include his son, Jon "Denny" Miller of Hephzibah, Ga.; daughters, Raina Westfall and her partner Maryellen Denton of Ballston Spa, N.Y., Chanda Miller Oglesby of Augusta; five grandchildren, Grant Oglesby, Aaron Westfall, Jonathan Miller, Kevin Miller, and Maygan Oglesby; brothers, Bobby Miller and wife, Sue of Ohio, John Michael Miller, Jr. and wife, Gloria of Texas; sisters, Charlotte Davis and husband Roger and Abigail Strauss all of Virginia Beach, Va.; his girlfriend, June Carpenter of Augusta; and his chihuahua, Cookie, who has been a treasured pet for seventeen years. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 16, 2007 at Poteet Funeral Homes South Chapel with Pastor Joey Grizzle officiating. Pallbearers will be Robert Davis, John Bounds, Clint Douthit, David Craddock, Todd Tanguay, and Francois Savoy. Honorary Pallbearers will be friends and family from Huddle House on Hwy. 56 and Ms. Carolines on Windsor Spring Road. Interment will be at Hillcrest Memorial Park with Full Military Honors.
