Annie Sprawls Geldart (NORTH AUGUSTA, S.C.)

NORTH AUGUSTA, S.C. - Annie Geldart went home to be with Jesus in the early morning hours of May 16th. She was 89 years old. She loved the Lord with all of her heart, and trusted him completely. Her funeral service will be held today at 11:00 AM at First Baptist Church of North Augusta with Dr. Gary C. Redding and Rev. Jerry T. Matthews officiating. Interment will be in Pineview Memorial Park. She was the daughter of the late Mr. Luther and Mrs. Susan Sprawls, and wife of the late John C. Geldart. She was raised in Montmorenci, SC, and has resided in North Augusta the last 67 years. She attended Anderson College and graduated from Winthrop College with a teaching degree in 1940. She taught third grade at North Augusta Elementary for ten years. She is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Paul and Ramona Geldart of Overland Park, KS; Richard and Susanne Geldart of Marietta, GA; Mark and Fay Geldart of North Augusta, SC. She had great love for her grandchildren and great grandchildren: David and Jen Geldart of Manhattan, KS, Dan Geldart of Overland Park, KS, Lauren and Brian Durham and Caroline Geldart of Marietta, GA, Sean and Jenny Heath, Rhett and Alysia Stroud, Cade Heath, Gracie Stroud and Addison Durham all of North Augusta. Next to her family, she loved serving in her church and spending time with her family. She has attended First Baptist of North Augusta since 1942 and has served in a variety of teaching roles. Most notably, teaching the Third grade class of Sunday school for 39 years. This was a great joy to her. She loved music, and loved playing the piano. She lived the true Christian example everyday of her life and was always willing to help anyone she could. She will be remembered as a Godly woman to all that knew her. She also was known as a great walker around North Augusta throughout the years and had a love for ornithology. Pallbearers will be Robin Young, Stan Bryant, Lloyd Pagan, Tim Tuten, Bobby Dodd and Bobby Oswald. The family will be at the residence of Mark Geldart, 188 Millwood Lane, North Augusta, S.C. Mrs. Weeks was a native of Vienna, Georgia, a former resident of Aiken, South Carolina, having made North Augusta her home for the past 72 years. She was a member of First Baptist Church of North Augusta where she was a former Sunday School Teacher, former President of the WMU and a member of the Sheffield Club. Mrs. Weeks was a former President of the Camelia Garden, a member of the Palmetto Garden Club and was the first President of the North Augusta Garden Council. She was a charter member of the Daughters of the American Revolution Martintown Road Chapter, a member of the Search Committee for the location of the North Augusta Community Center, an avid bridge player and a graduate of the Georgia State Teacher's College, Athens, GA. Mrs. Weeks was the wife of the late Mr. Rudolph Toney Weeks. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Clara and Frank Stanton, Savannah, GA; two grandchildren, Stan Stanton and Claire Wells; four great grandchildren, Jennifer Sangston, Toney McCallum, Caroline Stanton and Tripp Stanton; two great great grandchildren, Chloe McCallum and Owen McCallum; several nieces and nephews.
