University celebrates integration

ATHENS, Ga. - The University of Georgia renamed its academic building the Holmes/Hunter Academic Building on Tuesday, in honor of the two students who integrated the university 40 years ago. The event capped a day of celebration commemorating the anniversary of the university's integration, Jan. 9, 1961. The ceremony, held in the university chapel on North Campus at 4 p.m., honored Hamilton Holmes and Charlayne Hunter (now Hunter-Gault).
