6:15 p.m.: Thunderstorms accompanied by winds and hail begin popping up on Doppler radar screens, prompting watches, warnings and advisories from the National Weather Service. 6:30 p.m.: Warnings are issued that funnel clouds have been spotted on radar. Sightings in Lincoln County are confirmed by officials on the ground. 7:30 p.m.: Tornadoes pound Edgefield County, knocking out power and downing trees.
