Shoppers take advantage of the good deals at the Augusta Exchange Goody's store. The retail clothing chain is closing its doors nationwide and the inventory is being liquidated. Last year, the area lost two of its three Goody's stores, in Aiken and south Augusta. The chain just emerged from Chapter 11 bankruptcy four months ago. Goody's operates 282 stores in the Southeast and has about 10,000 employees.

Goody's Family Clothing plans to relocate two stores in the Augusta area in August. The changes are part of a company-wide upgrade of stores and "new look," a company spokeswoman said. "We've been working hard to be more consistent with that look," Goody's spokeswoman Pam Williams said. "In Augusta we also had the opportunity to relocate." Goody's, based in Knoxville, Tenn., has upgraded more than half of its 257 stores in the past two years with new racks and a more "elegant, updated" look, Ms. Williams said.
