Jean Shields Lusk Strange (OAK PARK, Ga.)

OAK PARK, Ga. - Durden-Hudson Funeral Directors announces the death of Jean Shields Lusk Strange, age 82, of Oak Park, GA on Monday, December 07, 2009 from injuries received in an automobile accident. Funeral Services will be Thursday, December 10, 2009 at 2PM in the First United Methodist Church with Dr. Robert Blankenship and Rev. Dr. Bill Woodson officiating. Interment will be in the New Hope Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. Mrs. Strange will lie in state, at the church, one hour prior to the service. The family will receive friends at Durden-Hudson Funeral Home Wednesday, December 9, 2009 from 5-8 PM. Pallbearers will be Clay Price, Jack Moore, Jim Beecher, Joel Beecher, Andy Thomason and Joe Peebles. Mrs. Strange was born in Williamson, West Virginia, attended Marshall University in Huntington, W. Virginia and graduated from Georgia Southern University in Statesboro, GA. She retired as Director from the Emanuel County Department of Family and Children Services with twenty-two years of service. Mrs. Strange was a Charter Member of the East Georgia Foundation Board and is currently serving as Director Emeritus, Trustee on the Greater Swainsboro Technical College Foundation, a member of the First United Methodist Church of Swainsboro and was active in the UMW. She was preceded in death by her parents; Lacey J. and Maggie Nola Harvey Shields, grandson; Blake Lusk and brother: Bill Shields. Survivors include: Her Husband: Larson C. "Shot" Strange of Oak Park, GA; One Daughter and Son-In-Law: Lacey Lusk Bishop and Perry of Swainsboro, GA; One Step-Daughter and Son-In-Law: Vicki Strange Moore and Donald of Oak Park, GA; One Son: Mike Lusk of Albany, GA; Two Grandsons: Clay Price of Statesboro, GA and Scott Lusk of Washington, DC; Two Step-Grandchildren: Jack Moore and Marylou Moore of Oak Park, GA. Anderson, age 88, of Swainsboro, Ga. on Sunday, April 30, 2006 at the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta, Ga., after an extended illness. Funeral service will be Tuesday, May 2, 2006 at 11 a.m. in the First United Methodist Church of Swainsboro, with Rev. Wayne Defore officiating. Interment will be in The Eastbrook Cemetery in Swainsboro. The body will lie in state at the church one hour prior to service. She was preceded in death by her parents, Judson and Trudie Scott Moxley and granddaughter Lisa Ragsdale Alford. Mrs. Marion Carmichael (SWAINSBORO, Ga.)

SWAINSBORO, Ga. - Mrs. Marion Rhoden Carmichael, 83, resident of Swainsboro, died Friday afternoon at Emanuel Medical Center. Mrs. Carmichael was born in Reidsville and had lived here since 1947. Mrs. Carmichael was a registered nurse and was the first surgical nurse for the Emanuel County Hospital. She was a member of the David Emanuel Chapter of the DAR and a member of 55 and Alive. Mrs. Carmichael was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Swainsboro where she was a member of the C.I. Hall Sunday School Class and the Madelene Rountree-Frances Pound Subgroup of the U.M.W. Mrs.

HAGAN, Ga. -- Mr. Ralph Pimlee Parham Jr., 54, died Sunday, Sept. 14, 1998, at Candler Hospital, Savannah. A memorial service will be at 3 p.m. today at First United Methodist Church of Swainsboro with the Revs. Ronnie Wills and Ed Cadle officiating. Mr. Parham, a native of Laurens County, was a graduate of Georgia State University, Atlanta. He was also a Charter member of both the Rotary Club and the Swainsboro Country Club. Mr. Elliott was preceded in death by his parents Shellie Septimus and Georgia Smith Elliott and a wife Billie Rountree Elliott. Survivors include: his wife, Daphne Taylor Elliott; one daughter: Missy Elder of Cannoochee; one son: Charles T. Elliott Jr. of Swainsboro; four grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, one niece, four nephews, two great nephews, two great-great nephews and two great-great nieces. She was active with the Make A Wish Foundation and was a former member of the Pilot Club, the Emanuel County Chamber of Commerce and co-founded the Swainsboro Recycling Center. She was preceded in death by her parents, Sam Manley Youngblood, Jr. and Louise Loveless Youngblood.
