Just as I was about to hang up the phone after talking with former Georgia Gov. Carl Sanders in 1999 he wanted to say one more thing: "Tell everyone," Sanders stressed, "that if I was not born and raised in Augusta, I wouldn't have experienced the many wonderful things that have happened in my life. I owe Augusta a big debt."
