Augusta could become home to state's first PET scanner

Augusta could be getting the first CT/PET diagnostic scanner in Georgia, which might become part of a larger collaboration between MCG Health Inc. and University Hospital. MCG Health Inc., which runs the Medical College of Georgia Hospital and Clinics, was approved by the Georgia Division of Health Planning to get the combined computerized tomography/positron emission tomography scanner. MCG is currently being served by a mobile PET scanner once a week.
