College football Alumni chapter will hold reception The Greater Augusta Alumni Chapter of South Carolina State University will hold a reception for new football coach Oliver "Buddy" Pough, at 6 p.m. Feb. 19 at the Julian Smith Barbeque Pit. Pough, a graduate of South Carolina State, was an assistant coach at South Carolina under coach Lou Holtz and former coach Brad Scott. A donation of $12 is requested. Georgia wary of Tyson-Lewis bout

ATLANTA -- Already shunned by Nevada and other states, Mike Tyson faces opposition in Georgia as he searches for a site to fight heavyweight champion Lennox Lewis. "I know there might not have been much discretion about the issuance of the license and the way the law was written, but there are other hurdles that have to be overcome and I personally don't think we should have the fight," Gov. Roy Barnes said Wednesday.

Texas Motor Speedway doesn't want Tyson-Lewis fight

FORT WORTH, Texas -- Texas Motor Speedway officials decided against bidding for Mike Tyson's heavyweight title fight against Lennox Lewis. "Mike Tyson makes this fight undesirable for us," TMS general manager Eddie Gossage said Monday. "We've wound up where I expected it all along. We cannot sell our values. Texas Motor Speedway is a clean-cut, family oriented venue."
