Floyd burnout's death leaves scattered traces of past glory

I have never been much of a Pink Floyd fan. I know that admission means divesting myself of much of my suburban middle class street cred, if there is such a thing, but The Wall, Dark Side of the Moon, even Wish You Were Here all make me kind of sleepy. I'm not sure whether it's those swirling guitars, the throbbing rhythms or just the sheer Englishness of it all, but just a few bars of Money can immediately throw me into a black-light stupor.

Coming together

Nestled nicely between the mop-top pop Beatles and the genre-bending experimentalists they would become, Rubber Soul, according to Ed Turner, is an album about transition.
