AIKEN, S.C. - On Friday, December 24, 2004, Mr. Joel Bruce Burris (221 Cherry Hills Drive, Aiken) entered into eternal rest at the age of 96. He will be remembered by all who met him as a generous and loving father, a dependable, Christian Friend and a loyal and faithful family member. He was a gentleman in the truest sense. Mr. Burris was a dedicated member and Steward of Cumberland A.M.E. Church of Aiken and the Masonic Lodge. Mr. J. Bruce Burris lived, worked and raised his family in Washington, D.C., and returned to his home in Aiken during his retirement.

Funeral services will be held Monday, August 11, 2003, at the First Baptist Church on York Street at 2 p.m. The body will lie in state beginning at noon. Burial will follow immediately in the Jessamine Memorial Gardens. A native and life long resident of Aiken, Freddie was a member of the Cumberland A.M.E. Church, where he served faithfully. He was employed by EI DuPont and Westinghouse, Savannah River Co. for 31 years.

She was preceded in death by her father, Joe Green, Sr. and her daughter, Valerie Green. Funeral services will be Wednesday, April 19, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. at Cumberland A.M.E. Church with the Rev. Moses Miller officiating. Burial will be at Jessamine Memorial Garden. Mrs. Green was a native of Aiken County. She was a member of Cumberland A.M.E. where she served faithfully on the Senior and Gospelaires Choirs. She retired from Owens Corning after 28 years of service. She leaves to mourn her passing her husband of 15 years, Clarence Green; two sons, Adaryll Green, New York and 1st Lieutenant Marcus Green, Tampa, Fla. step-daughter, Amanda Green, Augusta; mother, Mrs. Faye Green, Aiken; one uncle, Harold Palmer, St. Augustine, Fla.; one sister, Mrs. Betty (Tom) Thomas, Augusta; three brothers, Joe Louis (Donna) Green, Gloverville, S.C., James E. Green, Aiken, Mark S. Green, Augusta; one granddaughter, Ayanna S. Green, Tampa; five brothers-in-law, Amos (Sherrie Ann) Jones, Aiken, Joe Louis (Betty) Jones, New York, John Willie (Ann) Jones, New York, Thomas (Wilma) Jones, New York, Joeseph Jones, New York; two sisters-in-law, Rubena Green, Aiken, Leola Mackie, Toccoa, Ga.; two devoted friends, Secina Toole, Aiken and Robbie Franklin, North Augusta and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. The funeral processional will leave from the home of Mrs. Green's mother (218 Union St. NE) at 1:30 p.m. Pallbearers will be members of the '25 Gents Social Club', Amos Jones, Calvin Jones and Roger Richardson. Flower bearers will be Robbie Franklin, Leona Key, Betty Drayton, Barbara A. Gardena, Rubena Green, Secina Toole, Martha Cain, Irene Cummings, Sherrie Ann Jones and Barbara Dillard. Friends may call at the residence of the mother, Mrs. Faye Green, 218 Union Street, NE, Aiken, SC or at Jackson-Brooks Funeral Home beginning 3:00 p.m. Tuesday. The remains will lie in state at the church Wednesday from 1 to 2 p.m. The family will receive friends Tuesday at the funeral home from 7 to 8 p.m. Jackson-Brooks Funeral Home, Aiken, S.C.
