Fishermen who frequent Strom Thurmond Lake usually leave the boat ramp they launch from far behind in their never-ending quest for a catch. This writer, his wife and Yorkshire terrier "Princess Augusta Tickletummy" decided to fish the Lake Springs area on Wednesday since thick fog prevented long runs to other sections of the lake. Actually, the dog had nothing to do with the decision. She was just along for the ride.
Mrs. Eunie Day Glover, 72, of 2100 McDowell St., died Tuesday, Jan. 26, 1999, at St. Joseph Hospital. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Church of the Good Shepherd with the Rev. Robert Fain officiating. Burial will be in Westover Memorial Park.
AUGUSTA, Ga. - Hamilton Wilkins Merry passed away at his residence on November 16, 2003. He was a life long resident of Augusta and the son of Walter Davies Merry and Natalie Robertson Merry. A graveside service will be held at Westover Memorial Park on Wednesday, November 19, 2003 at 2 p.m. The family will receive friends at Thomas Poteet & Son from 7-9 p.m. on Tuesday, November 18, 2003. Mr. Merry attended Georgia Military College in Milledgeville and Emory Junior College prior to serving in the Army as a Staff Sergeant. He worked for Southern Bell for 25 years.

Mr. Thomas O. Duncan, 64, of 3745 Old Petersburg Road, Martinez, died Saturday, Sept. 19, 1998, in Atlanta. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Platt's Funeral Home, Belair Road, with the Rev. Bryan Cockrell officiating. Burial will be in Graniteville Cemetery, Graniteville. Mr. Duncan, a native of Augusta, was a fire inspector for the city of Atlanta. He was a member of the Green Meadows Golf Club of Augusta and the Boating Club of Augusta. He was a member of New Hope Church of God.
