AIKEN - During a break between morning world history classes at Aiken High School, substitute teacher Helen Randall said requiring substitutes to be certified teachers probably is a good idea. But only if they were to make more money than the average $45 a day they get now, she said. "They'd have to pay us more if they wanted us to be certified," Mrs. Randall said. "I do think (substitutes) should have to have a college degree." One expert gives an even stronger assessment.
